Brown Sugar Simple Syrup (Demerara Syrup)

Brown Sugar Simple Syrup takes only two ingredients and about five minutes to make!

What is Brown Sugar Simple Syrup?

Quite simply, brown sugar simple syrup is brown sugar and water heated together to create a syrup that can be used in liquids such as cocktails and flavored drinks.

What is the difference between Brown Sugar Simple Syrup and Demerara Simple Syrup?

Brown sugar is much finer than demerara sugar, though both share a similar flavor and are interchangeable as simple syrups.

Can I use Brown Sugar Simple Syrup as a Substitute for Simple Syrup?

Exactly like Brown Sugar vs. Refined Sugar, the two sugars have completely different flavors and I wouldn’t recommend interchanging the two.

Can I use Brown Sugar Simple Syrup in Coffee?

Yes! I love adding brown sugar to coffee, and brown sugar simple syrup works really well for iced coffee because you don’t need to worry about the granules dissolving, they are already dissolved!

Can I use Brown Sugar Simple Syrup in Cocktail Recipes?

Yes, you sure can. Brown Sugar Simple Syrup works well in Mai Tais, whiskey drinks, and anything flavored with orange or cinnamon!

If you like to try different types of simple syrups, you may also like jalapeño simple syrup.
