Frozen Mango Margarita

Frozen Mango Margarita

As the weather warms up, the drinks cool down. Mangos are the dominant flavor in this smooth five ingredient Frozen Mango Margarita. This cocktail looks and tastes like a smoothie. Garnish the glass with Tajín and you have the perfect remedy for a warm day!

Frozen Mango Margarita Recipe Ingredients

Mango - I bought fresh mangos, peeled, chopped, and froze them beforehand. This takes a little extra time -  I won’t judge if you want to buy your mango already frozen, it works just as well!

Limes - It wouldn’t be a margarita without a little lime in it, right?!

Simple Syrup - completely optional!

Tequila - pick your favorite tequila blanco and go with it! I used Tesoro #5 Blanco which is 100% agave, affordable and has a smooth flavor.

Tajín - Add a little kick to the rim of your glass with Tajín! I love how nicely it pairs with mango.

Frozen Mango Margarita Recipe Tips

Ripe Mangos - If you’re going the fresh mango route, choose ripe mangos for the best flavor. Mangos should feel soft when you give them a light squeeze and have a sweet aroma. Side note: the riper the mango, the harder to peel. Try using a knife if your peeler isn’t “cutting” it, but watch those fingers!

Adjust as You Go - With every recipe, I recommend tasting along the way and adjust the amount of any of the ingredient to suit your taste.

Variations

Make it a Mocktail - It’s easy! Omit the tequila and add extra mango and lime.

Try Mezcal - Swap out the tequila with mezcal for a savory and pleasantly smokey flavor addition.

Swap Tajin for Salt - Tajin garnish can easily be swapped out for salt if you don’t enjoy a spicy rim.

Frozen Mango Margarita Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Mango (about 1 fresh mango)

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)

  • 1 oz tequila blanco

  • 1 oz simple syrup

  • Ice

  • Lime and tajin for rim

Directions

If you are using fresh mango - peel mango with a peeler or a knife, depending on how soft the mango is. Slice mango pulp away from the firm center (similar to coring an apple).

Place in a freezer safe bag and freeze for at least two hours. You can prep this step in advance and store mango in the freezer up to three months.

Garnish glass with lime and tajin. Squeeze a slice of lime around the rim of your glass. Add about a tablespoon of tajin to a flat bowl or plate and roll the rim of the glass in the tajin. Set glass in the refrigerator to chill while following the next steps.

Combine ingredients. Add mango, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup in a blender. Blend together on the smoothie setting until smooth.

Add ice to the blender. I used about 1 cup of ice (the amount I would place in a glass if I was pouring the cocktail over ice). Blend until no large chunks are visible.

Grab that tajin rimmed glass from the fridge and pour the mango mixture into the glass. It’s ready to enjoy! So easy and SO refreshing!

Cheers!
