Jalapeño Simple Syrup
Jalapeño simple syrup is easy to make and can be used in many different ways. Add it to your favorite cocktails, sodas, teas or ice creams for a unique and spicy level up!
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Ingredients
Jalapeños - Jalapeños are medium hot peppers that originated from Mexico. They taste similar to a green bell pepper except that they pack a spicy punch. When you are shopping for a spicy jalapeño in the grocery store, try smelling it. The stronger aroma the vegetable releases, the more flavor it will pack.
Sugar - It makes everything sweeter. I like to use a raw sugar or an organic sugar for the best flavor.
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Recipe Tips
Don’t Strain It - You can choose to not strain the simple syrup and instead leave in the jalapeños to marinate longer.
Add Fresh Jalapeños - Turn up the spice level by adding fresh chopped jalapeños back into the liquid after you strain it and allow them to marinate while stored.
Adjust as You Go - With every recipe, I recommend tasting along the way and adjust the amount of any of the ingredient to suit your taste.
Store for Up to a Week - You can store the jalapeño simple syrup in the fridge for up to a week in an air tight container.
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Variations
Sugar Substitutes - You can use agave syrup or honey as alternatives to sugar in this recipe. Omit the sugar and water and follow the recipe using one cup of your chosen liquid sweetener.
